Antique Swiss Figural Clock
Antique Figural Clock in plated brass made by Swiss Music Box and Clock Company, Freres Nicole. This beautiful antique figural clock has a lovely female figure seated atop a brass box. The sensual figure has a draping long dress, but her arms and legs are very beautifully exposed in this figural clock sculpture.
The box that she sits upon is decorated with birds and flowers. The clock is an open face, common for 19th century French clocks of this period. Freres Nicole opened in 1814 and is best known for their intricate and well made music boxes. Here, the figure featured in the clock appears to have held something at one point, perhaps a musical instrument. Sadly, this piece is missing from the clock sculpture.
It is nonetheless a beautiful 19th Century clock and has wonderful sensuality and beauty. The clock has been serviced and cleaned and runs well. It is stamped F. Nicole on the clock face.
