Description
Beautiful and unique Art Nouveau Buffet in beautiful oak wood. This striking antique sideboard has a very unique design.
Art Nouveau Buffet
This antique Art Nouveau buffet has a very unique look. The buffet features three drawers in the center, flanked by rounded cabinet doors.
Additionally, the buffet has a beveled mirror backsplash, as well as an added shelf on the top.
Finally, the oak buffet features some really pretty carved details. There are some arabesque-type decorative panels in the front, on either side of the drawers. Also, there are some subtle vine-like details around the top shelf. Finally, the front two legs are beautifully carved with an acanthus type leaf that terminates in a swirl pattern.
Also, this antique sideboard is also striking because of the strong Quarter-sawn oak grain, which appears on every surface.
Unusual Antique Sideboard
While the sideboard does seem to echo the Art Nouveau style most, this buffet features a few Renaissance revival details as well. For instance, the carved feet are reminiscent of late Victorian period pieces.
Likely, this buffet dates to about 1910. Certainly, the buffet features some Victorian influences as well as some Art Nouveau details.
The sideboard shows very well for its age. We refinished the lovely oak wood. We did remove the locks from the cabinet doors, because they were not fully functional.
