Description
Beautiful and stately antique empire chest in mahogany wood. This lovely carved and inlaid Empire chest has such a wonderful design.
Antique Empire Chest
This beautiful Empire Chest dates to the first quarter of the 19th century. It features four drawers, with the top drawer protroding forward slightly. The three recessed drawers feature a beautiful brass hardware with rosette design.
Of course, the chest also features beautifully carved Pineapple carved columns on either side. As you may know, the pineapple was a traditional symbol of hospitality, especially in the Southern states. It is possible that this chest came from a Southern port city, like Charleston, because it likely features imported Honduran mahogany.
The chest also has beautiful legs, and line inlay in certain places. You will find lovely inlay around the top and on either sides of the drawers.
Carved and Inlaid Empire Chest
We refinished this chest in order to restore the beautiful mahogany wood. It shows well and would no doubt be a statement piece in any room.
