Age & Condition: Circa 1850. Refinished and restored. Hardware does not appear to be original. Keys and locks do not function reliably.

Description

Beautiful antique English desk with lovely turned legs. This unique desk has such a special design, and so much character!

Antique English Desk

The antique English Desk features a very unique burl walnut wood across all of its surfaces. The mottled figure of the grain gives the desk such a rich texture and movement.

Also, the desk features a writing surface with two lap drawers and a storage bank of drawers that sits on fitted dowels as well. This extra bit of storage and height creates a bit of height and organization to the desk. A top brass gallery finishes this section.

Additionally, the desk features really pretty turned legs. All four legs have the same unique turnings, giving the desk a very substantial base to stand on.

Sadly, we do not think that most of the hardware on this burl walnut desk is original. Additionally, none of the locks function reliably on this desk.

That said, the desk has a beautiful look and such a pretty grain that it makes up for these shortcomings. We refinished this desk in order to restore the lovely walnut grain. It shows very well.
