Of course, this large mahogany and cherry buffet has great storage and serving area. It features three drawers across the top. (The center panel is a concealed drawer.) Also, it has two large cabinet doors below.
Certainly, this antique buffet is unique because of its hardware and for its scroll work backsplash. These charming elements give it an artisic, almost folk-art look. Likely, this antique buffet came from a more rural New England workshop in the first quarter of the 19th century. In this period and region, craftsmen often tried to put a unique spin on their designs to stand out from their competitors in urban areas.
In this vein, this antique buffet has beautiful signs of craftsmanship, including dovetailing and paneled sides and back.
This New England Buffet would be a great as a focal point in a dining room or family room. It shows the original finish and has a few areas of rustic charm, that we didn’t want to restore. Please see photos.
