Antique Tall Chest
Gorgeous and striking antique tall chest in solid walnut wood. This beautiful early chest is a great example of Federal Furniture from the early 19th century.
Pennsylvania Chest of Drawers
Of course, the tall chest of drawers has a beautiful three over five drawer design. In fact the top two of three drawers feature a wooden locking mechanism. This keeps them locked without the aid of a mechanical metal look.
So, in order to open those drawers, you need to slide your hand into the second drawer and push upwards into a concealed wooden cutout. There, a wooden lever can be pushed and allow the drawers to glide.
The rest of the chest has all locks present and 4 out of the five work with the key provided.
Additionally, the chest features beautiful Federal style hardware. Each hardware bail pull features an Eagle with the words ‘VICTORY” in the background.
Antique Walnut Dresser
Finally, although the chest drawers and hardware are original, we needed to replace the feet. So new feet have been added to the chest. Many times, old chests either get damaged feet. Or, they can be cut off for ease of travel over the years. So, we had to build replacement feet.
Despite this addition, the tall chest has an incredible look. It shows very well.
Also, we refinished the early Pennsylvania Chest of Drawers in order to bring back the luster and beauty of the walnut.
