Description
Glass Showcase
Antique glass showcase made of solid walnut from the late Victorian Period. This antique Victorian glass showcase is very deep and wide, and can be used with or without the wooden shelves. The most amazing feature of this antique glass showcase is the beautiful wavy glass, which was made in the late 1800’s.
In the past, this lovely walnut glass showcase was probably some kind of store or mercantile cabinet, judging from its size and depth. It has a beautiful tear drop molding across the crown. It also features a bit of carved wooden detail along the corner edges. The glass is all original, and shows many waves and ripples. The glass display cabinet conveniently opens from the front with one large door. The display cabinet sits on a four legged base.
The four shelves appear to be original to the case. They sit on four metal “L brackets” that screw into the corners of the interior. These metal brackets can be adjusted slightly to various heights.
Antique Display Cabinet
Because this glass showcase is antique, it is very appropriate for any kind of historic collection. As a display cabinet, it would look phenomenal filled with military pieces, old books and precious documents, glassware or crystal, models or historic replicas. Without the shelves, the display case would also be great for any kind of uniform or dress display.
Lastly, our team did a re-coat of the top finish coat on this display cabinet. The finish and stain color is original, but we sprayed a new coat of lacquer on top to further protect this 150 year old piece. This antique glass show case will have many more years of use. It is very useful as a piece of antique furniture and will likely provide the owner with a plethora of ideas and inspiration.
