Description
Vintage Secretary Desk
Beautiful drop front mahogany inlaid vintage secretary desk made by Colonial Manufacturing in circa 1935. This beautifully detailed vintage secretary desk was created as a limited number of exact reproductions in connection with the Edison Institute (also called the Henry Ford Museum) in Michigan. The inlaid wood desk faithfully reproduces the detail, materials and design of an early American colonial desk.
Inlaid Wood Desk
Foremost on this secretary is the inlaid wood desk surface. The front desk surface has a beautiful floral design inlaid in a lighter wood, probably tulip wood or maple. Of course, the rest of the desk is crafted of Honduran Mahogany. This design feature really pops on this inlaid wood desk.
The interior of the vintage secretary desk has a beautifully designed curved interior, complete with pigeon holes and small drawers. The interior also cleverly conceals a few hidden drawers and compartments, which would be perfect for storing valuables or precious metals.
Very beautifully made, this desk has been sensitively restored and refinished. Our restoration team puts in quite a bit of time in order to refinish vintage furniture. They typically strip the old finish off, then carefully recreate the color and stain of antique furniture. However, typically, our restoration team uses lacquer to finish the pieces. In our opinion, this lacquer finish helps to keep any vintage furniture looking great for years to come. Additionally, it wears well and you can easily clean it with a gentle furniture polish.
This desk is ready for your home. I can imagine this Colonial style vintage desk in any traditional style home. It certainly could work in an historic home, but it also could find a place in a newer home. As long as you have a love of traditional classic design, you are sure to cherish this vintage secretary desk.
