Vintage Oil Painting
Beautiful original vintage oil in frame, painted by American artist Nick Scalise. This lovely original painting has so much charm and has a beautiful composition.
Of course, the artist has handled the somewhat rustic subject matter with great care and skill. The onion skins and onions are well formed and have a great sense of volume. Also, it has a nice color scheme with the warmer yellowish tones of the onions contrasting nicely with the slightly bluer-green of the tablecloth. Slightly reminiscent of Cezannes’ fruit paintings, this onion painting has an almost impressionistic hand.
Finally, the artwork has a nice gilded frame that suits the painting very nicely.
Nick Scalise was born in 1932 and died in 2002. Likely, the painting dates to the 1980s or 1990s, judging by the frame, and the back of the canvas.
