What’s an Ethan Allen Lowboy Chest worth? Prices? Values?

Ethan Allen Lowboy Chest

What’s an Ethan Allen Lowboy Chest worth? In 2019, Bohemians sold a vintage Ethan Allen Lowboy Chest for about $450. This lowboy chest had a traditional Queen Anne style. The condition made this piece of Ethan Allen furniture a great value for the price.

The Ethan Allen Lowboy was described as follows:

Ethan Allen Lowboy Chest
Item: Ethan Allen Solid Cherry Lowboy Chest.

Age & Condition: Circa 1980. Refinished and Restored.

Dimensions: 32″ wide x 17″ deep x 30.5″ tall.

The description of the vintage Lowboy was as follows:

Ethan Allen Lowboy Chest
Ethan Allen Lowboy Chest in solid cherry. This nice Queen Anne style piece features four drawers and nice cabriole style legs. We refinished the chest, bringing it to “like new” condition.

This Ethan Allen Lowboy chest would be very nice in a hallway, bedroom or living room. It serves as a nice looking accent piece for any room in the house!

Ethan Allen Values
As you probably noticed from the picture and description, we took the time to restore this vintage Ethan Allen lowboy. We stripped the old finish, re-stained and sealed with a lacquer. Of course, some may argue that this may have hurt the resale value of the chest.

However, because the chest was restored, it sold quickly and likely for a higher price than a similar chest in poor condition.

In other words, the condition of vintage furniture matters greatly in appraisals and final values! Many would argue, condition matters as much as the vintage furniture brand. Indeed, if you can bring a vintage furniture back to near new condition, you likely will sell it much quicker than a piece of furniture with several blemishes and flaws.

At the same time, we certainly understand the beauty of the original Ethan Allen finish. Ethan Allen had several beautiful stain colors and final finishes that really elevated the average American home.
